High Lodge at Thetford Forest

Thetford Forest is the largest lowland pine forest in Britain and located in a region straddling the north of Suffolk and the south of Norfolk in England.

Planning your visit

Opening times

Brandon Country Park Visitor Centre and Tearooms are open from 10:00. Between April and October we close at 4:30 and between November and March we close at 3.30. We open every day except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The Park is open from dawn to dusk.

Getting here

Brandon Country Park (IP27 0SU) is located just south of Brandon town centre off the B1106 Bury Road, just 5 minutes from the newly dualled A11. We are less than 30 minutes from Bury St Edmunds and under an hour from Ipswich, Cambridge, Kings Lynn and Norwich. Follow the white on brown tourism signs off the A11.

Public Transport

Brandon town centre (1mile/1.6km) and railway station (1.5miles/2.4km) are walking distance from the park. Bus service #86 links with Thetford and Bury St Edmunds with stops (Old Forge Court (opp)) approx 500m from our entrance. Visit Suffolk on Board to plan your journey.

 Parking and cycling

We have cycle racks by the front entrance.

There is ample car parking which costs just £1.00 for up to 2 hours, £2.00 all day (£1.50 and £3.00 respectively at weekends and Bank Holidays). Charges apply between 08:00 and 20:00.

Visitor Centre

The visitor centre offers advice on visiting the park with lots of information, guides and leaflets on our 3 nature trails and 8 mile cycle trail.

Copper Beech Tearoom

We take great pride in making as much as we can ourselves – our homemade soup is warming and delicious and always gluten free and vegetarian. Our own special recipe sausage rolls are made with our home-grown purple sage. Cakes are made by our dedicated and enthusiastic team and vary each day. Enjoy morning croissants, all-day breakfasts, freshly made sandwiches and baked potatoes.
